Commercial Bank launches 2013 Future Leaders Programme

​Commercial Bank invests in its employees in a continued partnership with University of Cambridge, UK

Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank yesterday announced the Launch of the 2013 Future Leaders Programme, in partnership with the world leading University of Cambridge (UK).  The programme, which was launched and run successfully for the first time in 2012, is dedicated to identifying and cultivating the next generation of banking industry leaders by delivering a comprehensive leadership training experience.  In its second year,  35 employees have been chosen to participate in the  programme which was created especially for Commercial Bank’s top performing and highest potential employees and helps fast-track the careers of these selected individuals to key senior roles, thereby developing the future Qatari leaders of Commercial Bank. The participants are made up of local talent, and for the first time in 2013 the programme has been broadened to encompass Commercial Bank’s partner Banks, the National Bank of Oman and United Arab Bank: there will be two Emirati and seven Omani employees joining the programme.

The Future Leaders Program, now in its second year, has proven to be a highly valued programme that enhances executive skills and provides an opportunity for our key employees to develop their knowledge, experience and behaviours and fast track their careers.”

Delivered in partnership with Judge Business School of the University of Cambridge, this 18-month scheme will have 7 modules, conducted by the professors from the Business School and delivered at the Commercial Bank Academy, a dedicated training centre in the heart of Doha.  The programme is specifically designed to cover all aspects of management to fast track young people to leadership roles in the Bank.  It covers topics such as: leading a bank in the GCC, strategy and marketing of financial products and services, innovation and technologies in the banking industry, a “mini-MBA” , personal leadership , creating high performing teams, and an in depth financial master class. The first cohort of 2012 are coming up to the end of their course, which culminates with a visit to Cambridge for the final module and a graduation ceremony.  Many of the participants have already been promoted or changed roles in the Bank, as a result of being on the programme.  The ongoing investment in the programme and the individuals involved is testament to Commercial Bank’s continued commitment to the development of the best local talent in alignment with Qatar’s 2030 Vision.
