Commercial Bank to community lauded with National CSR Award

Qatar University launches the fourth edition of the National CSR report
Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, saw its service to the community recognised by an excellence award at the 2015 Qatar Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Conference, hosted by Qatar University. The Bank’s commitment to the community has been made through a wide range of CSR activities during the period 2013-2015. The 2015 Qatar Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) conference also marked the release of the 2015 Qatar National CSR Report (Leaders’ Vision), compiled and published by Qatar University, which honors individuals whose leadership and example have made the most telling contribution in the field of CSR.
HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al -Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC), was awarded the Corporate Social Responsibility 2015 Person of the Year in recognition of his unstinting commitment to community development, and the example he has set as an inspiring role model for youth in Qatar.
On sponsoring the the 2015 Qatar National Report for Corporate Social Responsibility, Commercial Bank CEO Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi said: “Commercial Bank regards CSR as integral to its business strategy, and it is through our work with the community that we are able to support Qatar’s national development in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. As Qatar’s first private bank, we have a longstanding commitment to acting as a trusted and ethical partner with the Qatari community and to playing a role in the development of Qatar’s human, social and sustainable economic wealth”.
The awarding ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries and industry experts, including HE Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of industry and Energy and 2014 CSR Person of the Year, Ministers, Ambassadors and other recognized members of the society who contributed to the report. Also in attendance were representatives of NGOs, academic institutions, public and non-profit associations, senior faculty from Qatar University and a large number of students.
The Qatar National CSR Report monitors and evaluates the progress made each year in the area of sustainable development in society, with a particular focus on CSR and contributions to the Qatar National Vision 2030. This year’s edition prepared by researchers and students of QU’s College of Business and Economics and intellectual contributions from ministers, ambassadors, representatives of international organisations and academic personalities in Qatar. Its findings are published and commented upon in the national media.
