Commercial Bank and Qatar University hail close relationship

Lecture series on banking and finance comes to an end
Commercial Bank and Qatar University (QU) have underlined their close relationship through a lecture series focusing on major areas of banking and finance.
Over the course of one month, Qatar University provided lectures for Commercial Bank staff on key aspects of Banking, including the fundamentals of investments; financial analysis; managing interest rate risk; and currency exchange rates. The lectures were delivered by Professor Idries Mohammad Al-Jarrah, Professor of Finance, Department of Finance and Economics and the Commercial Bank Chair of Banking at Qatar University.
As Commercial Bank Chair of Banking, Professor Al-Jarrah’s responsibilities include developing a research programme in banking and finance, conducting specialised workshops and lectures for Commercial Bank staff, teaching courses in banking and finance and supervising student internships at Commercial Bank each summer.
Speaking at the closing lecture, Commercial Bank’s CEO, Mr Abdulla Saleh Al Raisi said: “Commercial Bank and Qatar University enjoy a close relationship as part of our commitment to supporting education in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. As Commercial Bank Chair of Banking, Professor Al-Jarrah is helping build a knowledge-based economy by advancing research in the field of banking and finance and equipping Qatar University students with the education they need to succeed in the Qatari banking industry.”
