Commercial Bank announces inclusive community activities for Ramadan

Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, has announced a range of community activities during the holy month of Ramadan.

As part of the Bank’s humanitarian and social initiatives, a key activity is distributing water and dates to members the public before Iftar every Saturday in different locations around the city. Commercial Bank staff are also distributing food supplies for needy families direct to their homes, and in cooperation with the St Regis Hotel, the Bank is giving Iftar boxes to taxi drivers.

Through Social Media, Commercial Bank has also launched an initiative (#CastYourKindness) to encourage philanthropy, by having others share their favorite video of social situations that have taken place in Ramadan, spreading  their experiences in the community.

On the 14th night of Ramadan, Commercial Bank also celebrated the tradition of Garangao in its mall branches with fun activities for children and gifts including traditional sweets and nuts. To help spread the impact of this initiative wider among the community, Commercial Bank volunteers distributed Garangao gifts on the children’s floor at Hamad and Al Wakrah Hospitals to give Garangao joy to those who are unfortunate enough to be in hospital during this special time of year.

Commercial Bank’s staff members have also gathered for the annual Staff Suhoor held at The Westin Doha, Hotel & Spa to embrace the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan. Attended by the Group CEO, Joseph Abraham, executives and employees, the Suhoor created a family-friendly environment, reflecting the Bank’s one team one-bank culture. Moreover, a short film was presented, highlighting the moral values in Qatari society and the different ways of giving over the years. The video included a number of contributions aimed to promote volunteerism and cooperation to support those in need.
