Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, has celebrated recently the achievements of their sixth “Young Bankers Summer Internship Programme.” A grand ceremony was held at Commercial Bank Plaza and in the presence of proud parents and Senior Bank Management, over 80 interns were awarded for successfully completing their internship. The specially designed programme is for children of Commercial Bank customers, aged between 13 and 17 years old.
“Young Bankers” is now firmly part of the Commercial Bank Summer calendar, running during the months of July and August. Places are much sought after on the Internship Programme and this edition again was well received by customers. To accommodate as many interns as possible, two phases were introduced this time with the interns gaining their experience in the branch network.
Commercial Bank Group Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Abraham, said: “As part of Commercial Bank’s commitment to developing human capital in line with the National Vision 2030, we have been running the Young Bankers Internship Programme for six years. The Programme combines Commercial Bank’s business activities with our corporate social responsibilities to create a relevant and meaningful experience that benefits younger generations by equipping them with practical banking knowledge and skills.”
The scheme aims to help students to develop business skills and gain real life work experience in a customer-facing environment, under the guidance of Commercial Bank branch staff.
Commercial Bank EGM and Head of Retail Banking Amit Sah commented: “Young Bankers Internship Programme is an endeavour by Commercial Bank to nurture industry leaders of the future, by imparting expertise and teaching the skills required in the field of business. The structure allows our students to receive in-depth understanding of Internet/Mobile Banking and ATM solutions which are now extensively used by customers for their day-to-day banking.”
Commercial Bank AGM & Head Branches, Reham Sabri, added “The Young Bankers Summer Internship Programme has been and will be, a platform for the Bank to enable future generations to discover new talents, sharpen existing skills and build confidence from a young age. I believe that it is our responsibility and a duty, to take forward the mission of sharing knowledge with these students. My advice to the younger bankers is to believe in themselves, dream big and chase them with passion.”
