Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank employees are proudly celebrating National Sports Day with a mix of physical activities, staff wellness and a Qatari community outreach programme.
Female employees enjoyed energetic Zumba sessions at Commercial Bank Plaza, while the men could take on a challenging fitness class, with table tennis and table football available for all staff to play.
To promote employee health and wellness, a diabetes risk assessment station was made available on 12 February at Commercial Bank Plaza. Run by a medical team from the Qatar Diabetes Association (QDA), staff underwent a number of simple tests including taking body measurements, blood pressure and blood sugar levels. The QDA team were on hand to explain the results of the risk assessment and give advice to staff about diabetes and ways to prevent it through adopting a healthy lifestyle.
To engage with the wider Qatari community and share the Sports Day celebrations with key Qatari entities, volunteers from Commercial Bank distributed special National Sports Day gifts at the Qatar Society for Rehabilitation of Special Needs, independent schools, the children’s floor at Hamad Hospital and at Al Wakrah Hospital.
Commercial Bank EGM and Chief Marketing Officer, Hussein M Ali Al-Abdulla said: “Commercial Bank are proud supporters of the National Sports Day initiative under the leadership of His Highness the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Employee health is important to us, and we promote sports and wellness activities for our staff not just during National Sports Day but throughout the year. As we believe sports and health play a vital role in today’s society and human development in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030, and we are active in promoting sport more widely in Qatar through sponsoring the international Commercial Bank Qatar Masters and organising local community sports activities such as our Manchester United Soccer Schools.”
