Commercial Bank connects with top student talent at Carnegie Mellon University's 'Professional Day'

27 March 2013

Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, one of the leading full service banks in Qatar, participated in the annual career and networking fair at Carnegie Mellon University, as it looks to engage with and recruit some of Qatar’s top graduate talent. The event was held on the 20th of March at the Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) campus in Education City, and attracted students enrolled across a variety of disciplines, including business administration, computer science, information systems and biological sciences.

The event provided an ideal opportunity for Commercial Bank to meet with students interested in building successful careers in the expanding banking industry in Qatar, as part of its focus on recruiting some of the region’s brightest students. Commercial Bank is looking to hire 40 Qatari graduates to join its Graduate Development Programme, a three-year rotational scheme which allows graduates to obtain a wealth of practical experience across different platforms within the Bank. Further initiatives which Commercial Bank offers – including a number of sponsorship schemes and a new summer internship programme, featuring a week long induction and leadership conference for first and second year students – formed a key focus of the Bank’s participation at ‘Professional Day’.

Commenting on the Bank’s keen interest to support and mentor Qatar’s future leaders, Andrew Stevens, Commercial bank’s Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “Commercial Bank is committed to recruiting and fostering some of the brightest young talent across Qatar, particularly as we work hand-in-hand with the Qatari government to achieve the National Vision for 2030. The graduate scheme forms a vital part of this initiative. We recruited two graduates from Carnegie Mellon University last year, and hope that this year we will be able to help more students take their first steps in an exciting career at Commercial Bank that will mark an important milestone in their professional development.”

He added: “We are delighted to have participated in CMU’s ‘Professional Day’. Our Qatarisation team understands that speaking to and engaging with students face-to-face is a very important way to attract promising talent. The event was a perfect opportunity to allow the Commercial Bank team on hand to introduce interested students to the excellent development opportunities and promising career path that Commercial Bank offers.”
