04 July 2013

The Bank holds three day development seminar for summer intern intake

Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank of Qatar, one of the leading full service banks in Qatar, has reaffirmed its commitment to the development of the country’s youth by organising a three day skills and learning-based event for summer interns at the Commercial Bank Academy. The initiative was held from 30 June to 2 July 2013, and was intended to motivate, inform and engage interns through a variety of workshops, talks and seminars, providing them with the ideal introduction to the Qatari banking industry.

Across the three days David Collins, Executive Coach and Leadership Mentor, helped interns prepare for life in the workplace by training them in some of the key skills and techniques necessary for their upcoming work experience. These include business ethics, organisational understanding, communication skills, team-building skills and motivational techniques. In addition, it provided interns with a valuable opportunity to meet other students on the programme and help develop the sense of community which lies at the heart of Commercial Bank.

The event also reaffirmed Commercial Bank’s continued investment into the development of young Qatari talent, in line with the country’s 2030 vision. Throughout the year the bank has been involved in a number of development and career-focused initiatives, including the 2013 Future Leaders Programme, the Qatar Career Fair 2013, and Carnegie Mellon University’s ‘Professional Day’.

Fahad Badar, EGM and Head of Wholesale Banking, commented: “Commercial Bank, in line with Qatar’s 2030 vision, strives to encourage the development of young people within the bank and within the state of Qatar in general.  This intern development event is a testament of our commitment to invest in developing young people and to contributing to the Qatari community by enhancing the skills of our interns and preparing them to take on an active role in the workplace, whether at Commercial Bank or elsewhere in Qatar”.
