Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, has sponsored Qatar Red Crescent Society’s (QRCS) Ramadan Iftar programme, providing Iftar meals for families in need as part of the Bank’s community-focused CSR initiatives during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
QRCS’s Iftar (Mawada) programme is a humanitarian project designed to provide relief to the needy, show compassion and achieve social solidarity during Ramadan. The Mawada programme applies to several different categories within the community including poor families, workers, the sick, and the elderly. QCRS will issue 750 Iftar vouchers which families can redeem at pre-approved restaurants during Ramadan for an Iftar meal.
Commercial Bank Group CEO Joseph Abraham said: “Commercial Bank is committed to supporting the full spectrum of Qatari society through our CSR programmes, and during the Holy Month of Ramadan we actively seek to lead or sponsor welfare activities that benefit the disadvantaged and less fortunate within our community. Qatar Red Crescent Society’s Ramadan Iftar programme performs a very noble role by providing daily meals to vulnerable groups, and as a gesture of appreciation, solidarity and sharing in the spirit of Ramadan, Commercial Bank is sponsoring this programme for one day. We wish all those within our community a blessed month of Ramadan.”
HE Ali Hassan Al Hammadi, Secretary-General, QRCS thanked Commercial Bank for their financial support and stated that QRCS’s Iftar programme is an important community focal point during Ramadan that unites Muslim and non-Muslim, Arab and non-Arabs together in an act of solidarity, inviting the community at large, organisations and individuals to support such charitable activities that are beneficial to all in need of support inside and outside Qatar.
