Leading international figures gather in Qatar to discuss business and development opportunities
Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, one of the leading full service banks in Qatar, this week sponsored the 8th World Chamber Congress at the Qatar National Convention Centre, organised by the International Chamber of Commerce World Chambers Federation and hosted by the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The Congress brought together chambers of commerce and their leaders from around the world to share, learn and build new networks of opportunity for business and development.
The theme of the event was “Opportunities for all” and senior figures from the worlds of business and politics examined topics at the heart of companies’ and chambers’ key agendas. Speakers included Mark Bolland, CEO of Marks and Spencer, Alison Smale, Executive Editor of the International Herald Tribune and Commercial Bank’s Mr. Fahad Badar, Executive General Manager, Head of Wholesale Banking, who gave a key speech on the success and strategy of Commercial Bank during the Business Programme workshop.
The Business Programme that Commercial Bank participated in was an essential component of the 3-day event. The workshop showcased to the international business community how leading Qatari companies and organisations are supporting the diversification of the economy and businesses, and the steady progress that is being made in support of the National Vision 2030. The exclusive event aimed to provide participants and business delegations with the opportunity to build new business networking relationships, greater knowledge of cutting-edge best practice, and an in-depth understanding of the Middle East business culture so that delegates can share these with their local chambers and business communities. Each of the companies invited to speak had earned leadership status amongst their respective industries, not only in Qatar, but around the world, and each gave a presentation on their vision and plans of development for their business sectors in Qatar and abroad.
Mr. Andrew Stevens, Commercial Bank’s Group CEO, said “Hosting the 8th World Chamber Congress 2013 represents an extremely exciting opportunity for Qatar to showcase the opportunities and advantages it possesses, together with demonstrating the progress that is being made towards achieving the country’s National Vision 2030. The event is one which attracts the highest calibre of individuals from commerce and politics, and it’s a real honour for Commercial Bank to both sponsor the event and to have Fahad present to such a distinguished audience.”
