Commercial Bank staff enjoy the World Cup action in Fan Zones

18 July 2018

Doha, Qatar: Nearly 395 Commercial Bank staff enjoyed the thrilling final stages of the World Cup in two specially created fan zones at Commercial Bank Plaza and the Bank’s Al Wakrah branch.

Staff from across Commercial Bank’s different departments saw France and Croatia emerge victorious from the semi-finals on the Fan Zones’ giant screens, and both venues were full for the tense final on Sunday that saw France win the World Cup for the second time in dramatic style. Now, at the culmination of 2018’s FIFA World Cup, more excitement is building around the ‘Welcome to Qatar’ message in preparation to fly the flag for 2022 and, in turn, host fans of the beautiful game from all over the globe.

In addition, Commercial bank engaged with football fans using their social media channels to create awareness and spread the excitement with excellent engagement and reach. During that period, the Bank has announced 3 different competitions for 3 different football games through its social media channels; each of them gave the customers opportunities to win a stay at the St. Regis Hotel Doha, by participating in their guessing of the games results! How many yellow cards will be hand out during the game? Who will win the World Cup in the final game? The competitions have received a high turnout from followers.

Commercial Bank EGM and Chief Marketing Officer Hussein Al-Abdulla said: “Commercial Bank has a ‘One Bank, One Team’ culture and the World Cup gave us a great opportunity to get together outside of the normal work environment and watch the football. The Bank runs a number of team building and social initiatives to help build a positive and productive workplace, and we were delighted to see a real sense of community spirit among our staff in the Fan Zones.”
