Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, is pleased to announce that over 100 interns aged 14 to 18 have successfully completed the third annual “Young Bankers” summer internship programme.
The programme titled, “For a better future, save every day” is designed to encourage the habit of saving among the younger generation and is exclusively for the children of Commercial Bank customers.
Throughout the summer, the interns worked in a real life environment within Commercial Bank branches under the guidance of Bank staff, whilst at the same time earning their own money and learning about the benefits of savings products.
To celebrate the achievements of the “Young Bankers”, the interns received certificates in front of their parents at an official ceremony held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. They were presented by Commercial Bank CEO, Joseph Abraham and AGM, Head of Branches, Mrs Reham Thawabi.
Speaking at the event, Commercial Bank CEO Joseph Abraham said: “Through focused educational initiatives for the Qatari youth, Commercial Bank is committed to developing human capital in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 for the benefit of current and future generations. As a Qatari bank we have a corporate and social responsibility to empower the youth through knowledge and to educate them about saving for the future.”
Mrs Reham Thawabi said: “Commercial Bank is leading the younger generation to be great savers and the summer internship programme offers young students the opportunity to work in live situations and learn about every aspect of the customer engagement process. This hands-on experience allows them to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting. By working alongside Commercial Bank staff, students experience the benefits of teamwork and leadership, and develop skills outside of a school environment.”
