Qatar University launches the fifth edition of the Qatar CSR Report
Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, saw its work with the Qatari community recognised by an excellence award at Qatar University’s CSR Exhibition and Conference.
Commercial Bank also participated in the CSR Exhibition, during which the fifth edition of the Qatar CSR Report was launched and HE Salah Bin Ghanem Al Ali, Minister of Culture and Sports was awarded the CSR Person of the Year.
Commercial Bank’s commitment to the Qatari community has been made through a wide range of CSR activities that benefit Qatari society as a whole, including humanitarian projects and charitable work for the disadvantaged; educational, training and personal development programmes for Qatari youth; sports and health initiatives; support for Qatari arts and culture; and the Bank’s Qatar National Day programmes that celebrate and preserve Qatar’s cultural heritage.
Receiving the excellence award for CSR on behalf of Commercial Bank, EGM Government & Public Sector, Khalifa Al Rayes said: “Commercial Bank regards CSR as integral to its business in support of Qatar’s national development in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Commercial Bank strives to be an outstanding corporate citizen by supporting socio-economic initiatives that benefit the Qatari community. We are delighted that our community work has been recognised through this award and we are proud to support Qatar’s University’s valuable Conference with our sponsorship.”
He added: “As Qatar’s first private bank with a long Qatari heritage of over 40 years, Commercial Bank believes that we have a duty working in the private sector to give back to the Qatari community of which we are part, and to make a contribution to the human, social and economic wealth of Qatar for the benefit of current and future generations.”
The CRS awards ceremony was attended by a number of dignitaries, industry experts, ministers, and ambassadors, as well as representatives of NGOs, academic institutions and senior faculty from Qatar University. The Qatar CSR Report monitors and evaluates the progress made each year in the area of sustainable development in society, with a particular focus on CSR and contributions to the Qatar National Vision 2030.
