Qatar’s heritage on show at Commercial Bank’s National Day celebrations

Doha, Qatar: Commercial Bank, Qatar’s first private bank, has officially begun a host of Qatar National Day celebrations with traditional activities honouring Qatari heritage at Commercial Bank Plaza in West Bay.
Commercial Bank board members, CEO Joseph Abraham and the Bank’s executive management started the celebration activities with a tour of heritage zone in the Plaza comprising of Qatari flags, “traditional corners”, and a VIP majlis where cultural activities took place. Commercial Bank board members participated in Al Arda with a traditional folkloric group, who then continued the entertainment with sea songs. The event concluded with a cake cutting ceremony in the shape of a map of Qatar and group photo with all board members and staff.
Visiting boys and girls from two local schools took part in traditional dancing, and guests and staff alike engaged in traditional cultural activities including historic games, henna design and a photo booth with traditional dress. A food corner served classic Qatari favourites such as Hariss, Mathrooba, Sago and Nakee.
Away from Commercial Bank Plaza, gifts will be distributed to kids on 18 December at Commercial Bank mall branches and traditional sweets and Arabic coffee served to all customers.
