Qatar’s top amateur golfers set to compete on the world stage

Doha, Qatar: Ghanim Al Kuwari and Saleh Al Kaabi, leading members of the Qatar National Golf Team, have been invited by National Bank of Oman (“NBO”) through the Commercial Bank of Qatar (“Commercial Bank”) to compete at the inaugural National Bank of Oman Golf Classic (“the NBO Classic”) from 24 to 27 October.
Taking place at Al Mouj Golf, The Wave Muscat, the NBO Classic is the first European Challenge Tour tournament held in the GCC region and the last event before the end of season grand final. The NBO Classic is set to feature some of golf’s leading professionals and amateurs, who are all competing for the full European Tour cards awarded to the top 20 players at the end of the season.
Saleh Al Kaabi and Ghanim Al Kuwari were handed sponsor’s invites from Commercial Bank. Commercial Bank has also secured an invitation for the best Qatari golfer to compete on the 2014 Challenge Tour.

“Many of today’s leading European Tour golfers such as Ian Poulter, Henrik Stenson, and Martin Kaymer rose through the ranks of the Challenge Tour and we hope that Saleh, Ghanim and other Qatari golfers will one day join their ranks as professionals on the world stage,” he added.

Fahad Nasser Al Naimi, the General Secretary of the Qatar Golf Association said: "We will do our best to prepare Ghanim and Saleh for this tournament. We are confident this will have a positive impact on the growth of golf in Qatar, besides showcasing our national talent to the world.”
