09 January 2013
Qatar MICE (Meetings, Incentive, Conference and Exhibition) Development Institute (QMDI) has inked a strategic partnership spanning 3 years with the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters, Qatar’s flagship sporting property. This exciting partnership will see both organisations leverage their association and expertise to raise the level of this prestigious tournament, staged in Qatar.
The three way partnership between the Qatar Olympic Committee, the Qatar Golf Association and Commercial Bank has resulted in the tournament making giant strides from its humble beginnings in 1998. It currently sits within the top 10 on the European Tour’s international schedule, in terms of prize money, quality of the field and presentation.
The 2013 edition which will be staged from January 23 – 27, 2013 promises to be a mouth-watering contest with some of the biggest names from both sides of the Atlantic scheduled to make their exclusive debuts in Qatar, some of whom will be reigniting their Ryder Cup rivalry, at Doha Golf Club.
QMDI, a member of Qatar Foundation, is Qatar’s premier events management company managing some of The State’s biggest conferences and exhibitions such as the United Nation Events for Climate Change Conference (COP 18/CMP8) and the 25th world postal Congress. Its partnership with one of Qatar’s prestigious sporting events will see The Tournament leveraging the vast resources, experience and expertise that QMDI possess to help create a seamless logistics process for this internationally acclaimed tournament.
With sport being one of the key pillars in Qatar’s National 2030 Vision, The Tournament and QMDI will seek to adopt the highest possible standards and signal to the world, that global events are not only hosted in Qatar, but well supported by local global brands such as QMDI and staged to the highest possible standards with the help of local expertise, leaving behind legacy and setting a benchmark for future events.
QMDI’s Chairman Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Naser was ecstatic with the partnership. This is an exciting time for QMDI, he said. Our expertise in managing Qatar’s biggest MICE industry events is second to none and a partnership with one of the most prestigious sporting events in Qatar is the next step in our evolution. The Commercial Bank Qatar Masters ranks amongst the best in world and it is our ambition to partner with the best, raise our profile through sport and contribute towards the growth of The Tournament. Our expertise and The Tournament’s mercurial growth will realise a mutually beneficial partnership for both.
Mr. Andrew Stevens, Group CEO of Commercial Bank added, with QMDI’s complete package solution for ticketing, accommodation and other facilities, The Tournament can now reach out to a wider audience locally, regionally and globally and attract a wider spectator audience. We have already started leveraging QMDI’s ticketing resource vendors such as Virgin Ticketing and look forward to working together and raising Qatar’s profile on the world’s sporting stage.
These are exciting times for both of us. With sport being one of the key pillars in the Qatar National Vision 2030, we aim to signal to the world that global events are not only hosted in Qatar, but well-supported and staged to the highest international standards with the help of local expertise, leaving behind a legacy and setting a benchmark for future events.
